We are very happy to continue to offer pelagic tours off Oregon under the name of our new business, Oregon Pelagic Tours. Oregon Pelagic Tours is a sole proprietorship of Tim Shelmerdine of West Linn, Oregon, founded in October, 2014. Shelmerdine joined Greg Gillson as a seabird guide with The Bird Guide, Inc. in 1996, in that corporation's second year. Gillson moved to San Diego in 2013 and Shelmerdine took over leading the pelagic trips for The Bird Guide through 2014, after which that corporation was dissolved. Oregon Pelagic Tours is proud to provide the same standard of excellence in guiding and service as experienced by those of you who have been out with The Bird Guide.Shelmerdine and Gillson continued their 25 years of seabird guiding collaboration to work together on Oregon Pelagic Tours. Shelmerdine manages the business and leads the trips from Oregon; Gillson assists on the website.
At Oregon Pelagic Tours, we seek to provide all participants with a quality bird and mammal watching experience. Our friendly and knowledgeable guides pride themselves on their excellent customer service, and are happy to help customers improve their identification skills and knowledge of seabird behavior and biology.
